Your first chiropractic visit

Our patients often arrive at the clinic seeking relief for painful injuries, a plan for improving their overall wellness, or a program to help them improve their performance.

Your first appointment is all about you.

  1. We’ll take the time to discuss your goals, symptoms, overall health, and how your pain is effecting your life.

  2. You’ll receive a thorough assessment to identify relevant treatment targets that will help you feel better.

  3. You’ll have options for how we will approach your treatment and what techniques you’d like to try.

  4. You’ll be provided the tools and education that will help you continue to improve outside the clinic.

Typical follow up appointments are 20 minutes so we never have to rush your care. You’ll always have time to talk with your doc, ask questions, and understand how your treatment is bringing you toward your goals.

If we don’t think we’ll be a good fit for you, we can help put you in touch with someone who will be able to serve you better.

Techniques we use for mobilizing tense tissues and stiff joints:

  • Dr. Josh is an expert at gentle, targeted adjustments to help get stiff joints moving and functioning well.

  • Targeted techniques to reduce muscle tension and ease pain. Helps with motion and flexibility.

  • Stimulate specific points to increase blood flow and decrease muscle tension. Helps to support healing and restore balance.

  • Your plan will be customized to you in order to help you get back to full function as quick as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nope. It is safe for most patients to have their spines adjusted, but it’s not necessary in order to recover or feel better.

Fun fact - Dr. Josh doesn’t get his neck adjusted due to a congenital blocked vertebrae. Whether we include neck adjusting is purely based on your preference.

  • Definitely not.

Your care is tailored to your goals. For most acute injuries, we see significant improvement within 6-8 visits.

Sometimes patients have factors that are negatively influencing their health that we can’t completely remove. These factors could include work stress, kid stress, physical jobs, and previous injuries or trauma.

We do our best in these situations to tailor a wellness approach that suits the patient’s goals, budget and preferences.

  • When patients first come into the clinic, they are greeted by a squat rack and dumbbell rack. Dr. Josh values exercise and education and wanted to show this in the design of the clinic.

Thanks to our expertise in providing comprehensive musculoskeletal injury management, we can offer rehabilitation, strength training, and mobility, in addition to hands-on chiropractic care.

Evidence that informs our approach to chiropractic care

We strive to provide modern, comprehensive care for musculoskeletal injuries. As our research evolves, so does our treatment.

If you’re unsure if we’ll be able to help you, we are happy to chat and help you decide if our chiropractic care will be a good fit for you.

  • The WHO recommends exercise and education as first-line treatment for chronic back pain - this is the cornerstone of Dr. Josh’s chiropractic care.

Additional recommendations include acupuncture (needling), spinal manipulation, and massage - these are all options as part of your chiropractic care.

  • British Journal of Sports Medicine editorial that outlines the approach that guides our hands-off care with patient injuries.

The research supports an optimistic view of injury healing and a gradual return to normal activity.

Dr. Josh will help outline the path from injury back to activity using this model.

This approach compliments our manual therapy offerings in the clinic.
